Background, Education, and Experience

Teresa Boyden Knudsen has been a professional writer since 1984.
Her online writing has been published by USA Today Online, and various other outlets under the name Teresa Dashwood. Her print writing appears in the British Library, as well as in American city and county libraries, and college and university libraries including Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and the University of California at Berkeley.

Education:
She apprenticed in pre-college drama, dance, and theatre production at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg Virginia. She studied an additional 2.5 years of drama, dance, theatre production, and English writing and literature at The University of Texas at Austin. For two years in Dallas, she worked in the fashion industry at the Apparal Mart, where she also studied film production first hand by being an extra in Logan's Run.
She spent a year in New York City, working for cosmetic companies such as Estee Lauder, Clinique,
and Revlon.
During this time, she attended night school at Columbia University, studying writing, art history, and the philosophy of Plato, Kant, and Nietzche.
She earned the following degrees, along with continuing education:
Bachelor of Arts from the Jesuit institution Gonzaga University, with coursework in literature, journalism, and dance, as well as the required coursework in religion, logic, and ethics.

Master of Fine Arts from Eastern Washington University, with studies in writing fiction, non-fiction, poetry, playwriting, studio art, ballet and English as a Second Language.
Master of Initial Teaching degree from Gonzaga University, specializing in education and research.
Additional coursework in screenwriting from the University of California at Berkeley.

Publications:
She completed Warrior of the Mist: A Biography of Qualchan, Chief Owhi's Son, published by Glen Adams, Printer, at Ye Galleon Press, Fairfield, Washington. This book was purchased by the British Library, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, UC Berkeley and other libraries around the USA and the world.


Professional Experience:
Since 1980 she has been a Professor of Writing, Literature, Language Acquisition, Education, and English as a Second Language at numerous colleges and universities, including Seattle Pacific University, Gonzaga University, Eastern Washington University, the Community Colleges of Spokane, Whitworth University, and Washington Academy of Languages.

Law:
Her interest in law and the professional treatment of faculty resulted in her serving as plaintiff for the successful Mader v Health Care Authority, 2004, which resulted in an $11 million class action settlement to provide summer benefits for qualifying faculty.
